QuickTime Instilation Instructions
  Download QuickTime 6.0

The videos on our pages use a current version of QuickTime.

We recommend that you download and install QuickTime 6.0. As a minimum QuickTime 5.0 is required. It is also important that you have a current web browser.

Note: Some interent web browsers have the security settings on high. This may limit the viewing of QuickTime video clips. You can change your security settings in the browser under >Tools>Internet opions>Security

We selected QuickTime as a medium as it is platform independent and the most widely used player on the web. We elected to use the most current version of QuickTime to compress our video clips as it allows the highest compression. This saves both server space and download time. QuickTime is integrated into many of the web browsers.

What is QuickTime?
At its simplest, QuickTime is software that allows Mac and Windows users to play back audio and video on their computers. But taking a deeper look, QuickTime is many things: a file format, an environment for media authoring, and a suite of applications:
— QuickTime Player - for playing back audio and video files
— QuickTime Pro - for flexible multimedia authoring
— Browser plug-ins - for viewing media within a web page
— PictureViewer - for working with still images
— QuickTime Streaming Server - for delivering streaming media files on the Internet in real time — Darwin Streaming Server - for delivering streaming media with Linux, Solaris, and Windows — QuickTime Broadcaster - for delivering live events on the Internet
— MPEG-2 playback Component - for playing back MPEG-2 content.

Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000 Installation Overview

QuickTime 6 uses a Web installer application that improves the speed and flexibility of the QuickTime software download and installation process. This installer is a small 506K setup file that manages the download of all additional files needed for QuickTime. This allows you to download only the software needed for the chosen installation and resolves issues with downloading a single large installer application. The installer can automatically detect updates to the QuickTime software components as they are made available, and download just the files that have been revised.

You must have an active connection to the Internet in order to complete the QuickTime software installation.

After clicking Download QuickTime on the QuickTime Web site, the QuickTime Web Installer will automatically download and begin the Web installation process:
